Abstract

D’Arrigo’s Horcynus Orca, the Odyssey of ‘Ndrja Cambrìa, a helmsman of the former Italian Royal Navy who tries to return home by crossing the Strait of Messina, after the armistice of ’43. A monumental literary work built on an extreme linguistic beauty finds its natural setting among the flashes of Naples and the nocturnal reflections of the lights of the Gulf and the boats that appear far away on the horizon. An extraordinary natural setting, in which the light takes on a pictorial and dreamlike background, merging with the sea, the water and the images that reveal themselves in the background, making Theatre the place par excellence of the word, gesture and visions.
